Auto & General Insurance receives a BASA Award for Sandton’s Theatre on the Square.
On Monday evening, insurance giant, Auto & General, scooped the BASA Award (Business and the Arts, SA) for First Time Sponsor of an arts project – Daphne Kuhn’s acclaimed Theatre on the Square in Sand-ton. Chief Marketing Officer, Carl Louw accepted the award on behalf of Auto & General.
After the first year of this new partnership, the theatre has already seen a major revamp, inspired by its patron Carolyn Steyn and renowned in-terior-designer, Stephen Falcke. The theatre is so happy and proud of the recognition received.

The Auto & General Theatre on the Square has staged several memo-rable productions this year, including Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, The Twilight of the Golds, Pieter Dirk-Uys’ Fifty Shades of Bambi, Vigil and most recently I Have Life… Alison’s Journey – amongst the many serious and comedic, local and international dramas, comedies and mu-sicals, regular classical music and jazz concerts, youth and women’s festivals.
The production of Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks will be visiting the 2014 Hilton Festival in September – increasing Auto & General’s foot-print and the huge exposure garnered from the branding and sponsorship rights for all productions and projects. The theatre has also been the home to several events hosted recently, including the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day concerts as well as the recent fundraisers for SA Guide Dogs Association for the Blind, starring leading musical theatre personalities.
